This is the BEST method out here so far. I found it on http://howrsehelp.freeforums.org and it was created by:
This method was been perfected by players of equideo (howrse french version) :
Tigger Lilly
ceryle
Lorolail
nagoya

I coppied this from CraXoR's forum.

What you need to optimize foal's playing :

-->temperature high enough to put foal in pasture

2h pasture
Feeding

10 MONTHS :
1h30 pasture
salt stone
grooming
1h playing

Summary of playing durations :
# 8 months : 8h
# 10 months : 9h
# 1 year : 9h
# 1 year 2 months : 10h
# 1 year 4 months : 11h
# 1 year 6 months : 13h

NOTE: When it specifies a minimum number of lbs you need to feed your foal it's not kidding, and sometimes that doesn't even give the foal the required energy it needs to complete the training as specified. Be mindful of moral, energy being used, and energy being gained. If your baby is not gaining enough energy back feed more during the feeding phase (it takes 30 minutes no matter how much you feed) or train for 1 hour less.

ALSO: be careful of overfeeding too much: your baby will probably have to do on a crash diet after the games, but GP will have been maximized!
